Proudly founded by a husband and wife team, Holloway Bay Company was created by Michelle & Ray, who reside in the peaceful lakeside town of Port Colborne, Ontario. Along with their two children, Hannah and Easton, and puppy Willow.

Together since teens, they often talked about one day having their own business. Something meaningful, a passion project. Both being hard workers, Ray of over 20 years in machinery, working 6 days a week, and Michelle working in the nursing and childcare fields. With the long hours, holidays missed, and daily pressures, they dreamed of a more balanced and healthy lifestyle to enjoy with their growing family.

 

Besides being with each other, one thing the family always enjoyed was being in nature, crafting (definitely passed down from Grandma Emmy) and candles. The beautiful glow, the yummy scents, some nostalgic that made us think of times passed, and the ongoing tradition today. A positive, relaxing, and warm feeling.

But headaches were happening more often when they were lit. There had to be a connection.

After diving into research mode, Michelle discovered the not so pleasant side of the candles her and Hannah loved shopping semi-annual sales for, paraffin waxes, and 'soy blends' with paraffin. Pure toxins and chemicals. Carcinogens, black soot, allergens, the list goes on. From that day, Michelle looked into healthy alternatives, and there it was - soy candles. Michelle and Ray began making all natural soy candles to enjoy from that point on.

 

Then came the wild idea - to jump. It was time. You jump, I jump, Jack!

Sending gifts to family and friends, during the highs and lows, was also an important part of their hearts. Combined they thought, candles for all to enjoy in their homes, and giftable soy candles to present to those you love. Healthy, thoughtful gifts for all of life's moments. A handcrafted labour of love, hand-poured on the shores of Lake Erie. Our new adventure. ​
